Thai Sugar Heritage
Thailand's sugar industry traces its roots back centuries, with sugarcane cultivation deeply embedded in the agricultural fabric of the nation. Modern commercial sugar production began in the 1930s, and over the decades Thailand has risen to become the world's second-largest sugar exporter — a testament to the country's fertile land, favorable climate, and industrious farming communities.
Today, Thailand's sugar sector supports over 200,000 farming families across the central, northeastern, and western regions. With 57 operating mills and an annual production exceeding 10 million tons, Thai sugar is recognized globally for its consistent quality and competitive value.
